What is Racer X²?
Racer X² is an all-girls solar car team committed to fostering young women in STEM. We built an electric solar-powered vehicle to compete in the 2026 Solar Car Challenge in Texas. Through this project, we aim to raise awareness about innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while creating hands-on STEM opportunities for high school girls.

The race
The Solar Car Challenge is a national event that invites students from all over the country to race their solar cars. There are two versions of the competition that alternate every year: a cross-country road course or a closed-track loop at Texas Motor Speedway. In 2026 we raced the cross-country road course across Texas.
We entered the Electric-Solar Powered Division with our vehicle, Amaterasu, modeled after the Mazda 787B — and took 1st place in our first season.
