Temple City’s All-Female Solar Car Team

WHAT IS RACER X² ?

Racer X² is an all-girls solar car team committed to fostering young women in STEM. We are building an electric solar-powered vehicle to compete in the 2026 Solar Car Challenge in Texas. Through this project, we aim to raise awareness about innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while creating hands-on STEM opportunities for high school girls.

THE RACE

The solar car challenge is a national event that invites students all over the country to race their solar cars. There are two versions of the competition that alternate every year: a 1000 mile cross country road course or a closed track loop at Texas motor speedway. This year we will be competing on a 1000 mile cross country road course to Austin. 

In this upcoming competition, we are entering in the Electric-Solar Powered Division with our vehicle modeled after the Mazda787b.
